Description

How it works

The PSD series Platform High Speed Disperser is a heavy-duty industrial dissolving and pre-mixing system engineered for structural mounting on steel mezzanine platforms or factory ceilings. Configurable in a single-tank setup or as a multi-tank rotational system with a 360-degree electrical slewing mechanism, one central PSD disperser head can service multiple stationary tanks in sequence, maximizing production efficiency for large-batch paint, coating, ink, and chemical manufacturing.

Multi-Tank Electrical Slewing System: The optional 360-degree electrical slewing mechanism allows one disperser head to rotate between multiple stationary tanks, eliminating the need for multiple disperser units and reducing capital investment while increasing throughput.

Mezzanine Platform & Ceiling Mounting: Designed for structural installation on steel mezzanine platforms or factory ceilings, the PSD series saves valuable floor space and integrates seamlessly into existing production layouts.

Height-Adjustable Toothed Cowles Disc: The disperser shaft features a height-adjustable toothed Cowles disc that can be positioned at optimal immersion depth for different batch volumes and material viscosities, ensuring consistent dispersion performance.

High-Capacity Batch Processing: Standard models handle 600-6,000 L batches with 18.5-90 kW motor power. Custom configurations are available up to 312 kW motor power and 15,000 L vessel capacity, with vacuum-sealed execution and explosion-proof certifications.

Sealed Tank Covers with Maintenance Access: Optional sealed tank covers with maintenance access ports enable safe operation with volatile materials while providing convenient access for cleaning and inspection.

Explosion-Proof & Custom Metallurgy: Available with explosion-proof electrical configurations and SS304/SS316L vessel metallurgy to meet hazardous area and sanitary processing requirements. Custom motor voltages (220V/380V/440V, 50Hz/60Hz) are available for international markets.

Equipment Selection

Selection Principles

  • Select model based on required batch capacity, material viscosity, and production throughput; PSD18.5/22/30 for 600-2,000L, PSD37/45 for 1,000-3,000L, PSD55/75/90 for 3,000-6,000L.

  • Determine whether single-tank or multi-tank slewing configuration is needed; multi-tank systems maximize equipment utilization when multiple formulations are produced sequentially.

  • Consider platform load calculations and ceiling structural requirements for installation; POLYC engineers provide consultation for platform load and slewing layout planning.

  • Evaluate need for explosion-proof certification, vacuum-sealed operation, and SS304/SS316L metallurgy based on material characteristics and regulatory requirements.

  • Confirm motor voltage and frequency requirements for the target market (220V/380V/440V, 50Hz/60Hz available).

Process Engineering

Working Principle

  1. The high-speed motor drives a toothed Cowles disc rotating at up to 1,450 rpm, creating intense shear and turbulence in the material.

  2. The rotating disc generates a strong vortex that draws material from the vessel walls downward through the disc, ensuring continuous circulation and uniform dispersion.

  3. Hydraulic lifting system raises and lowers the disperser shaft, allowing the disc to be positioned at optimal depth for different batch volumes and enabling tank access for cleaning.

  4. In multi-tank slewing configurations, the entire disperser head rotates 360 degrees electrically to position over successive tanks, eliminating the need for multiple disperser units.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a high-speed disperser used for?

A high-speed disperser rapidly wets, mixes, and disperses powders into liquids. It is widely used for coatings, inks, adhesives, pigments, resins, and chemical products.

How do I select disperser power and speed?

Selection depends on vessel size, viscosity, powder loading, and target dispersion quality. POLYC MACHINE engineers match motor power, impeller size, and speed control to your process.

Can a disperser handle high-viscosity materials?

Yes. We offer high-torque dispersers, vacuum dispersers, and double-shaft configurations for high-viscosity pastes, adhesives, sealants, and concentrated slurries.

What vessel sizes are available for dispersers?

POLYC MACHINE supplies laboratory, pilot, and production dispersers with vessel sizes configured to your batch volume. Lifting frames and closed vessels are also available.

Do you offer vacuum dispersing systems?

Yes. Vacuum dispersing systems reduce air entrainment and help remove bubbles from coatings, adhesives, sealants, and electronic slurries.
