Single Shaft High Speed Disperser (Dissolver)

POLYC PDM single shaft high speed disperser, also called a dissolver, is a general-purpose wet dispersing and mixing machine for paint, coating, ink and pigment. It uses a sawtooth disc driven by a VFD-controlled motor to shear and wet out liquid-solid batches, with hydraulic lifting for fast vessel change and cleaning. Sizes cover 50 to 5000 L.

Description

How it works

The PDM single shaft high speed disperser is the standard dissolver for wet dispersion of liquid-solid suspensions. A sawtooth disc mounted on the dispersing shaft rotates at high speed and creates strong shear, impact and turbulence that breaks agglomerates and wets out powder. Frequency control gives stepless speed adjustment from 0 up to 1450 rpm (1200 rpm on the larger units), so shear can be matched to material viscosity. Hydraulic lifting moves the head clear of the vessel for fast colour change, cleaning and maintenance. It is widely used for paints, coatings, inks, pigments, dyestuffs and similar chemical slurries. Standard configuration includes a Siemens or equivalent inverter-duty TEFC motor, a hydraulic lift station, VFD stepless speed control, and laser-cut stainless steel sawtooth discs. Units can be supplied for 380V / 415V / 460V three-phase supply to match your plant. For solvent-based and hazardous-area duties, explosion-proof motors, control panels and interlocks are available; water-based materials can use standard non-explosion-proof motors. Matching single- or double-layer vessels, jacketed for heating or cooling, are supplied as required. Not sure which power or disc size matches your vessel? Equipment Benefits

Equipment Advantages

  • Fast solid dissolution: the high-speed dispersing disc rapidly wets and dissolves powder into the liquid phase, handling large-capacity batches in one vessel.

  • From lab to production: available from small lab units up to large production machines configured to your batch volume and viscosity.

  • Safe lift operation: limit switches prevent the shaft from starting during lift up/down or without a vessel, protecting the operator.

  • Explosion-proof option: explosion-proof motors, controls and limit switches are available for solvent-based and hazardous-area installations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a high-speed disperser used for?

A high-speed disperser rapidly wets, mixes, and disperses powders into liquids. It is widely used for coatings, inks, adhesives, pigments, resins, and chemical products.

How do I select disperser power and speed?

Selection depends on vessel size, viscosity, powder loading, and target dispersion quality. POLYC MACHINE engineers match motor power, impeller size, and speed control to your process.

Can a disperser handle high-viscosity materials?

Yes. We offer high-torque dispersers, vacuum dispersers, and double-shaft configurations for high-viscosity pastes, adhesives, sealants, and concentrated slurries.

What vessel sizes are available for dispersers?

POLYC MACHINE supplies laboratory, pilot, and production dispersers with vessel sizes configured to your batch volume. Lifting frames and closed vessels are also available.

Do you offer vacuum dispersing systems?

Yes. Vacuum dispersing systems reduce air entrainment and help remove bubbles from coatings, adhesives, sealants, and electronic slurries.
