Custom mixer configuration
High-viscosity mixers are almost always configured to a specific process rather than ordered from a catalogue. To recommend the right shaft arrangement, power and vessel size, our engineers need the following information, and can incorporate the custom options listed below.
Information to provide
- Purpose and desired result - homogenisation, emulsification, degassing, chemical reaction, or simple blending
- Material properties - viscosity (in cps or Pa·s), density and solids content of the material to be mixed
- Batch volume - working volume per batch, and whether the vessel must be jacketed
- Connected equipment - upstream and downstream equipment, transfer method and any space constraints
Custom options we can design
- Heating and temperature control - jacketed or coiled vessel for heating, cooling or isothermal operation
- Timed mixing cycles - programmable mixing time with automatic stop or alarm
- Vacuum and pressure - vacuum degassing or pressurised operation, with appropriate mechanical seal
- Ribbon or helical blade design - for high-viscosity pastes and sealants that require axial pumping
- Standard electrical configuration - control panel, VFD, emergency stop and explosion-proof rating as required
Engineering note: For double-shaft mixers with vessels above 1,000 L, shaft deflection, agitator power and support structure require a separate feasibility analysis before a firm quotation can be issued. Our engineers will review your specific geometry and material data.
